Silverthorn Collegiate Institute, a school dedicated to excellence,
love of learning and community partnership, challenges each learner to
reach full potential and to become a positive, responsible contributor
to society. Silverthorn is a friendly, safe learning community committed
to dynamic, innovative programs and leadership by example.

Silverthorn Collegiate Institute is located in the Markland Woods
community in the City of Etobicoke (part of Metropolitan Toronto) in
Ontario, Canada. The school was built in 1964 as a comprehensive
secondary school providing a wide range of academic, technical and
business courses.
The approximately 1 200 students at Silverthorn Collegiate Institute
come not only from North America, but from Asia, Central and South America, Africa, and
Eastern Europe as well. The school has a large number of students enrolled in
the ESL (English as a Second Language) program many of whom have been in
Canada for only a few weeks or months. Many of the over 60 teachers have
special training in ESL.
